Mother's Milk Ice Cream

ice cream

If people are going to extol the virtues of breast milk for babies, why not for adults as well? One cool London boutique ice creamery thinks babies shouldn’t have all the pure and unadulterated flavor kept to themselves. Coming this Friday, “Baby Gaga” ice cream, a frozen dairy treat made from donated breast milk, will be unveiled. They want you to think of it as an organic and free range treat. This from the people whose motto is “lick your addiction.”

The Icecreamist Restaurant founder Matt O’Connor didn’t think the “miracle of motherhood” should be so exclusively used and asked for lactating volunteers to act as suppliers. Fifteen women were hired for the task, one of them is Victoria Hiley. Hiley is already familiar with the complicated world of lactation, working with women who have problems breastfeeding their babies. She advocates the wide sampling of breast milk in part so more women will know they could provide their newborns with a delicious as well as nutritious food.

“What could be more natural than fresh, free-range mother’s milk in an ice cream? And for me it’s a recession beater too – what’s the harm in using my assets for a bit of extra cash?” Hiley stated.

The treat is made with mother’s milk, Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest. And while a mother’s milk is free, you will pay a premium for this dessert: about $23 a serving. As they say at the Icecreamist: God save the cream!
