Australian men say no to more sex

not Australian

This sounds counterintuitive: Young Australian men are saying no more, thank you.

It’s true. In a recent study, 12% of one of the most sexed up groups of men, the 16 to 24 age bracket, said they wanted less sex.

“Although it’s a minority, it’s still interesting that it’s more of them (than any other age group), which is not that sort of myth, boys not getting enough sex and dying to get it,” said Juliet Richters, Associate Professor in Sexual Health, University of New South Wales. Richters and her team of researchers surveyed over 4300 heterosexual men and an equal number of women between the ages of 16 and 64.

And these results are consistent with a study from five years ago. “Only” 31% of men in that age group said they wanted more sex, the lowest of any other age group as well.
What’s up with the men down under not wanting to get down? Do we all have it wrong about young men and their wild oats?

“It may well be that they are being overwhelmed by girls of much the same age who are madly in love and very keen,” she said. “It also takes men of that age about a year longer to commit to a relationship.” I’m thinking any commitment at any age is optional for men; I doubt that’s a factor.

Our instincts are correct for the 35 to 44 men for whom 57% would like more hootchy.
