Killer sex

killer

Meaning sex that kills. Seriously, researchers have decided that sudden bursts of moderate to intense physical activity can up the chances of a heart attack. Another reason to get those weekly gyms visits in: no one wants to be that guy who died while getting laid. You know every member of the PTA would find out.

I feel inspired, maybe “threatened” is a better word. If not to get to the gym to at least have more regular moderate to intense sex so my body won’t get shocked literally to death. Who knew a good roll around could be so important. Really, I’m waiting to see who the national spokesperson promoting more active sex for preventative health will be. May I nominate Johnny Depp.

Dr. Issa Dahabreh of Tufts Medical Center in Boston published the report in the Journal of the American Medical Association. They brought together results from 14 studies looking at the link between exercise, sex and cardiac arrest.

We are 3.5 times more likely to have a heart attack after exercising. We are 2.7 times more likely to drop after having sex or immediately afterward. They admit the study does not identify a causal relationship between sex and cardiac arrest, but still, are you going to take any chances?

“These elevated risks are only for a short period of time (1 to 2 hours) during or after physical or sexual activity,” said Jessica Paulus, another Tufts researcher who worked on the test. Great, I usually kinda luxuriate in post-coital bliss, now I’ll be counting the minutes in the heart attack scare is over.

Get out there people: exercise and have sex! It will save your life.
