Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are certainly on the rise, which is making doctors, scientists and parents alike scratch their heads and say, “Huh?”. Both of these disorders are not necessary genetic and may go undiagnosed for years as parents may just deem a child with the disorder as being “difficult” or as having a learning disability.
While a lot of doctors are not sure why both ADD and ADHD are on the rise, there are some sneaking suspicions of what is causing this to happen. The first thing to point our finger at is our diet. The foods we eat affect us tremendously on so many levels, so if we eat poorly there are usually poor consequences to follow. A child who is stuffed full of processed, sugary foods or food substitutes is a top contender for both ADD/ADHD and diabetes.
TIP: Want a natural sweetener? Try the stevia extract. Your kids won’t even be able to tell the difference!
Try a Healthy Diet
Strive for whole foods, tons of veggies, and get those kids to take their multivitamins each and every single day. A balanced diet goes a long way in providing a balanced life.
Work with Your Doctors
You will also want to consult a behavior consultant or specialist and train both your child and yourself how to cope with frustrations, stress, and become fluent in the art of “self-expression”. When your child has pent up energy, they will then be able to convey it to you through speech as opposed to “acting out”.
Try Natural Treatments
There are also natural herbal treatments available to you to cure your child of this disorder. Many parents are taking this route, as Ritalin (you may as well call this drug “speed”) can drastically alter their child’s personality, which of course is a cause for great concern. Start up by giving your child the following herbal remedies:
- Flaxseed oil
- Vitamin B-complex supplements
- Chamomile
You will also want to discuss them going on a high-quality herbal “cleanse” to help rid their bodies of the toxins and parasites that have built up (primarily due to a poor diet). Before you potentially put your child on a cleanse, do your research. Make sure the company is reputable and the cleanse is made up of quality items. A lot of the less expensive grocery-store brands simply are not good enough.
