Who me? Moody? Homeopathy for PMS and Moods

Submitted by Courtney on Wed, 03/10/2010 - 22:12

You’ve seen them, all women considered them: remedies for our less than pleasant PMS symptoms. Sure, there are a ton of them out there on the market today, promising to take away our bloating and cramping, but at what expense? Many of these "medications" are toxic to our bodies and may very well just do more harm than good in the long run.

There is an answer: homeopathic remedies. Listed below are the best of the natural homeopathic cures as well the symptoms that the cure treats. You can then decide which treatment will work best for you.

Calcerea Carbonica

This can almost be referred to as the “all encompassing” PMS homeopathic cure. If your period is abnormal and you feel any of the following symptoms, considering using calcerea carbonica:

  • fatigue
  • weight gain
  • tender breasts
  • water retention/bloating
  • anxious feelings
  • hungry
  • clammy hands and/or feet
  • “chilled” sensations throughout the body

Colocynthis

Experience bad cramps every month? Then consider colocynthis. Those awful pains you feel in your lower abdomen that wrap around your pelvis will melt away with the use of this homeopathic cure.

Chamomilla

This is another homeopathic cramp treatment. This treatment works best if you have the following two symptoms:

  • A heavy or clotted menstrual flow
  • The pain extends from the lower abdomen to the pelvic region and typically becomes worse with use of a heating pad

Lachesis

This homeopathic remedy is perhaps the most common as it helps with the pain that an average woman feels when she’s premenstrual. Women who feel bloated and experience pain before their flow is “established” need to consider taking lachesis treatments to help remedy this discomfort. To deduce whether you should be using lachesis or not, consider whether or not you experience the following symptoms;

  • Palpitations
  • Hot flashes
  • Headaches
  • Increased sex drive

Lycopodium

Are cravings your issue? How about bloating with a side of gas? Then you want to consider taking lycopodium to cure what ails you.

Natrum Muriaticum

If you find yourself suffering from headaches or even migraines while you are PMS’ing or having your period, then natrum mariaticum is in order. Other symptoms that are helped with this homeopathic cure include alleviating thirst and treating cold sores.

These are only my personal homeopathic PMS cures – there are a whole lot more out there! Visit your natural health stores today for further guidance and advice on what may work best for you during that “time of the month”.
