Easy Crafts: Wrap Your Gift Inside a Plastic Bottle!
Submitted by Courtney on Sun, 03/07/2010 - 22:00
Tired of using gift bags stuffed with tissue paper? Sick of struggling with that tired old gift wrap? If you’re looking for a new innovative idea that will blow minds, try wrapping your gift in a bottle.
Start Gifting
It may sound complicated, but using a clear, plastic bottle as a “gift bag” is actually far easier than you may think. All you need to start is:
- A clear plastic bottle (ideally a plastic pop bottle or something similar)
- A craft or box knife
- Acrylic paints or permanent markers
- Ribbon
Wondering just how the heck you’re going to fit something inside of that bottle? Take your craft or box knife and cut a slit in the bottle that is going to be large enough for you to squeeeeeze your present inside (and I do mean squeeze – you’re going to take a lot of patience to get it in!). Once your gift is inside of the bottle, you can set about decorating the outside to match your vision.
TIP: If it is a gift for a close friend, try decorating the entire outside with pictures of you and them together. All you need is some glue to hold the pictures to the bottle.
Finishing Touches
Ribbon is best used to try and conceal the bottle cap at the top of the bottle. Be sure to secure the ribbon to the top of the bottle very well, particularly if you are sending the bottle through the post “as is” rather than placing it in a box to send.
Friend or family member doesn’t live near you? Not a problem! Instead of sending along one of those drab brown paper boxes, why not send along your bottle? You can place a card inside the bottle or outside of the bottle with the destination address on it. Most post offices will gladly mail your item to your friend or family member this (though do be sure to check beforehand).
To pack the bottle, use colorful confetti, tissue paper, or even colored sand if you ever so desire. Seal the slit with clear packing or postage tape, and you’re good to go!
