5 Steps to a Guest Room Makeover

If you guest room is more an after thought than a decorating delight, then you need to follow these five steps to give it a makeover.
- Use the best in bedding. Buy sheets made of organic material. Bamboo linens are as luxurious as you'll find. Have blankets, comforters and throws made of natural materials, like wool and felt.
- Give them fresh air. Make sure the room is well ventilated. Add an air filter. Open up the window and air the room out before your guests come.
- Keep them entertained. Leave a selection of books and magazines on a shelf, along with some CDs. Make sure they have the opportunity for some down time in the privacy of the guest room.
- Leave plenty of room. Don't fill use the drawers and closet for your storage area. Make sure there is room for your guests to unpack their clothes and feel comfortable. Leave empty hangers and add some sachet made from homemade potpourri.
- Turn your guest's visit into a spa stay. Leave a basket of natural, homemade bath and shower products and a stack of thick organic cotton towels. Invite the to take home any leftover products.
Make sure your guest knows where to find the basics, like snacks and a spare bathrobe. Then enjoy your time as hostess.
