Natural Home Beauty Remedies: Olive Oil, Oatmeal and Dry Skin Brushing

Those products in stores may SAY that they’re natural ways to become beautiful, but if you read the label on the back you will sadly discover that these “natural products” are laden with disgusting, toxic chemicals that are damaging our bodes with each and every use.

Not to fear; natural ways to beauty truly do exist and they cost a lot less than you’d think! Here are my top three guaranteed ways to healthier, beautiful glowing skin:

Dry Brushing

Never head of dry brushing? Neither had I, until I met a Scandinavian woman who enlightened me on this popular “spa” and cancer treatment which is all the rage in Russia, Turkey and Scandinavian countries. Dry brushing is exactly as it sounds: brushing your skin so as to prevent dry skin through exfoliation and to stimulate skin renewal. There are other marked benefits, such as:

  • Lymphatic system cleansing
  • Cellulite removal
  • Muscle toning
  • Skin tightening
  • Digestive aid
  • Improved nervous system
  • Improved circulation
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Stimulated oil-producing and hormone glands

To begin your dry brushing venture, consider using a loofah sponge, a rough towel, or a soft natural fiber brush (preferably with a long handle so you may reach all areas of your body). Literally brush your naked body from head to toe in a circular motion before a shower and bath, so that during your bathing you can wash off any impurities. Just take care to avoid any broken or damaged skin, as dry brushing will only cause more harm to the area.

Oatmeal

This one should come as no surprise. For years oatmeal has been touted as being absolutely fantastic for our skin – and for a good reason! Not only is it a great exfoliating, pore cleansing product for our skin, but it also:

  • Moisturizes (oats contain lubricating fats that help plump up our skin – which can also help prevent aging!)
  • Fights dryness (again, those lubricating fats and polysaccharides leave an almost undetectable protective film on our skin which helps stave off flakey, dull skin)
  • Keeps our skin balanced (unlike many skin products on the market, regardless to whether or not you have dry, sensitive, oily or mature skin, oatmeal helps maintain each individual person’s skin’s natural barrier)

Olive Oil

More and more olive oil-based skin care products are hitting the market recently, and for a good reason. Olive oil is an appropriate moisturizer for all skin types and is a natural product from a fruit with zero additives. This cost effective moisturizer is loaded with antioxidants, natural compounds, nutrients and vitamins that help us detoxify and keep young.

Add these three items to your regular skin regime and you will be seeing results in as little as 2 weeks. Love saving money and your skin – naturally!
