Natural Dental Care: Keep Your Mouth Clean The All-Natural Way
Submitted by victoria1981 on Sat, 02/20/2010 - 12:54
Many commercial toothpastes are marketed as natural, with baking soda or hydrogen peroxide as a main ingredient. However, you don't have to shell out your hard earn dollars to get the benefits of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Just mix up your own mouthwash and toothpaste with these recipes.
Tooth whitener
Common salt is an inexpensive tooth whitening. Rub your teeth with a paste made of sea salt or table salt moistened with a few drops of water. Rinse your mouth well so you don't swallow any salt.
Mix equal parts of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Add mint flavor to improve the taste. Keep the mixture on teeth for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse well. If you swallow any, drink a lot of water.
Toothpaste
Make a paste of either of these two recipes. Store in a covered container.
Toothpaste Recipe #1
- 6 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 4 teaspoons glycerin
- 15 drops peppermint or wintergreen extract
Toothpaste Recipe #2
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 3 tablespoons baking soda
- 1/2 small packet of stevia powder
- 20-25 drops of peppermint oil
Mouthwash
Salt
Wash your mouth with half a glass of warm water containing a teaspoon of table salt. This also soothes sore throats.
Baking Soda Mouthwash
- 2 ounces water
- 1/4 Teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 drop of pure peppermint oil
- 1 drop of tea tree oil.
Diet has a great deal to do with dental health. Floss daily. Use a floss made from natural ingredients with minimal packaging. Rinse your mouth after eating to maintain dental health.
