Product Line for Pregnant and Nursing Women Offers All-Natural Advantage

Many products target the healthcare needs of pregnant and nursing women but few were designed exclusively with all-natural ingredients.

One product line claiming this advantage is Beauté de Maman, created by Stamford, CT-based obstetrician Michele Brown, M.D. using American College of OB/GYN Guidelines (ACOG) for natural remedies in pregnancy and introduced in 2008 following extensive patient testing.

Morning Sickness Remedy

Beauté de Maman’s products—all free of parabens, BPA and phthalates—are marketed by TriStar Wellness Solutions, Inc. and designed to safely address problems related to the physiological and hormonal changes in pregnant and nursing women. For example, Beauté’s morning sickness remedy combines ginger, lime, and vitamins B6 and D. Each ingredient is known for its anti-nausea properties; the latter was added since many pregnant women are deficient in this essential vitamin and need it for healthy skeletal development of the fetus.

Stretch Mark Cream

Beauté’s stretch mark cream contains hyaluronic acid and biosaccharide gum, along with gardenia tahitensis, coconut oil and pea extract—all natural botanical and herbal ingredients that increase collagen and elastin, preserving the skin’s elasticity and suppleness. An acne face and body cream was designed containing the natural ingredient melaleuca alterifolia (Tea Tree oil) for antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties that is equal to benzoyl peroxide in effectiveness but without the latter's bleaching qualities. It is contained within a moisturizing base with a pleasant refreshing fragrance of avocado ester, lavender oil and peppermint oil to prevent excessive drying. An acne facial scrub is available as well.

Nursing Gel

For nursing mothers, Beauté offers a vegan nipple gel that contains no lanolin. Lanolin is derived from the sebaceous glands of sheep whose wool is drenched with a chemical to prevent parasite infections and that graze on grass treated with pesticides. One or both substances can endure through the lanolin extraction process and be delivered to infants; additionally, some women have wool allergy and react to lanolin-based products. In contrast, Beauté’s product is an omega fatty acid plant-based, colorless, odorless gel with calendula officinalis, an antibacterial and antifungal herb that helps prevent mastitis during breastfeeding.
