Reduce morning stress with four easy fixes

scream

Do you wake up hoping to start the day fresh and relaxed, just to gather stress before you even get out of your bedroom? Here are four tips which could have real impact on your morning routine and prepare you in a stress-free way to face your day.

Does your hair make you want to pull your hair out?

Hair can take up most of the morning if you let it. Make it easier by starting with the right haircut. This may be a wash and go style, or hair dryer and heat rollers. In any case, get a style you like which doesn’t cramp your routine in the morning. Work with curly hair, don’t fight it. Washing your hair the night before can be a great way to shorten your morning routine. Try to be practical as well as beautiful.

Get ready the night before

Take a few minutes the night before to think about the morning, what you are doing and what you will need to get it done. Set the breakfast menu, pull out some ingredients or set the table. Set your coffee maker if it has a timer. Use a slow cooker for oatmeal. Pancake batter can be made the night before and refrigerated. Get your briefcase in order. Grab any paperwork you’ll need for the office or to run lunch time errands.

Create a launch pad

Get your stuff ready at the door: car keys, purse, glasses, backpacks, gym clothes. If you want to get really organized give each member of your family a colored storage basket they can use. This is where you check your stuff before you leave. You’ll know you have it all because it’s waiting for you.

Lay your clothes out the night before

No one wants to have to make a choice at the crack of dawn. Choose your clothes the night before. Select shoes and accessories. Lay everything out so you don’t have to decide on what to wear or look for it in a mad scramble in the morning.
