Boosting your Botox

This is considered big news in Southern California: the application of two additional topical skin products to your Botoxed skin with lengthen the results and improve skin quality even further. A recent study suggests that using a new 4% hydroquinone skin care system specifically designed for use with Botox-type skin treatments in combination with tretinoin (Retin-A) enhances the improvements in skin appearance attained with the Botox or Dysport type treatments. This triple punch should really improve fine wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

As anyone knows who uses this stuff, the effect is immediate but slowly wears off. Extending the effect is a bonus to those who suffer from blotching and yes, wrinkles, and want the un-insured treatment to last as long as possible. Significant improvements were found at 30, 60 and 90 day intervals.

“The new hydroquinone system is not only effective, it is also easy for patients to use, increasing the likelihood that they will be able to get maximum benefits,” said study co-author Joel Schlessinger, MD, FAAD, FAACS. “Most importantly, using the system in combination with tretinoin significantly improved how patients perceived themselves, which is the ultimate goal of any aesthetic treatment.”
