Dr. Lara Ashmore, M.Ed., Ph.D. Lara received a Ph.D. in instructional technology from the University of Virginia. Lara believes that advanced internet and global communication technologies provide a wealth of educational opportunities for our children. An advocate of major education reform and Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, she believes in Dr. Seymour Papert’s vision that technology can nurture children’s creativity and imagination as well as facilitate innovative learning experiences. She encourages children to become inventors, scientists and artists rather than passive entertainment consumers.

Lara’s web sites and projects have appeared in Internet World, USA Today, PCWeek and Yahoo! Internet Life, as well as books and articles on web-based learning. Her doctoral dissertation Web Site Useability and the Theory of Multiple Intelligences investigated useability issues with children aged 3 to 6 within the framework of Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. The owner of E-Kids Research, Lara co-founded MI Fun Co-Op, a homeschooling co-op based on the theory of multiple intelligences.

Lara is the founder and director of the Dallas, Texas, vegetarian group Veggie KIDS. She currently works with the Robert Muller Center for Living Ethics exploring creative uses of technology and conducts parent and teacher education workshopson a variety of topics including multiple intelligences, parenting in the digital age, multimedia scrapbooking and digital storytelling.
